In the Room

What a treatment is.

Fine single-use needles, placed at specific points, left in while you rest. An acupuncture needle is solid and about the width of a hair. Most people feel a dull heaviness or a spreading warmth where one sits, and then drop into something close to sleep.

The points are a map, built and refined across two thousand years of continuous practice. Which points, how deep, and how many is the judgment Amber trained for — and it changes from visit to visit, because you do.

Much of the hour is the hour. You rest in a quiet room with the needles in. People fall asleep. That is part of the treatment working, not an interruption of it.

Two Different Things, One Word

The add-on, and the full session.

Acupuncture appears twice on our menu, and they are not the same appointment. During a bodywork session, your practitioner can add needle and needle-free point work to whatever the tissue is already asking for. It happens inside the massage hour, and it is very good at what it does. See the add-on therapies →

A full session with Amber is its own appointment, and it starts somewhere else entirely — with a history, a conversation about what brought you in and what you would like to change, and a treatment built from that. Where they fit, electroacupuncture, cupping, gua sha, hot and cold stone, red light therapy or ear seeds come in alongside. Not every modality is used in every visit.

If you are coming for acupuncture itself, this is the one you want.

The Practitioner

Emergency medicine, and the older kind.

Amber has worked more than a decade as a firefighter paramedic, and has taught CPR and first aid for eleven years. Emergency medicine taught her to assess quickly, say plainly what she is seeing, and recognize when something belongs with a different kind of care.

Her own reason for practicing acupuncture is to bridge the gap between what conventional Western medicine does well and where an older, more complete tradition can change a life. Read her full bio →

Initial Visit

A full history, a real conversation, then the first treatment.

Your first visit begins with a review of your health history and a conversation about what brought you in and what you would like to change. From there, your treatment is built around what your body needs that day. Wear loose, comfortable clothing that rolls up easily above the knees and elbows, and please arrive thirty minutes early to complete new-patient paperwork.

Return Visit

Adjusted to whatever has changed.

A short check-in on how you have felt since your last treatment and what has shifted, then the session is adjusted to match — acupuncture plus whatever the day calls for.

Couples Acupuncture — Initial Visit

Two people, one room, one practitioner.

Experience acupuncture with someone you love. Two people are treated side by side in the same room. Book this visit when either of you is new to the practice — it begins with a health history for each person, taken together in the room. Each person completes their own paperwork at least an hour before the visit; fill it in at home and bring it with you, or come an hour early and do it here. If something comes up that you would rather discuss privately, just say so.
